Your VCU eID
What is the VCU eID?
eID is your identifier to authenticate you to use many VCU electronic services and web applications. Currently, the eID is used to gain access to the VCU Portal, wireless network, the academic e-mail system, Blackboard Course Management System, Domino E-mail System, Domino Quickplaces, Library Applications, and some departmental applications. Future applications that will use the eID include web access to the Administrative Systems.
How do I find my VCU eID?
All accepted students, faculty, staff, and authorized affiliates of VCU have been assigned an eID that in most cases is the same as your @vcu.edu e-mail name (your mail "redirector" or "alias" ID -- that is, "user" would be the eID for user@vcu.edu). To find your eID, go to the following web page:
https://husky.vcu.edu/eid/finder/index.cgi
You will need to enter two of the three pieces of information. The last 10 digits of your VCUCard number, your Banner ID (V Number), or your birthdate. Press the "FIND" button. Your eID will be displayed. You will then be given the chance to set your password for the first time or change it if you already have an eID in use for your Mail1, Mail2, Blackboard, VCUfiles, or wireless access accounts.
How do I change my eID password?
If you know your eID, you can change your password by going to the following web page:
Instructions on how to change your password.
What's the difference between my eID and my Student Number?
Your eID is a combination of your last name and initials and is used for login to various computer accounts and web services, while your student number is used for financial/transaction processing and it is assigned in lieu of the Social Security Number.
Will my password expire?
Your eID password will expire periodically. You will receive several emails to your @vcu.edu email address to notify you when your password is going to expire. These emails will also tell you how to change your password.
I just started at VCU, why is my password expiring so soon?
The initial password you set will expire after 90 days. After the initial period, your password will expire periodically as defined in the password standard.
How often will my password expire?
Password expirations are based on your roles at the university. There are different intervals defined. Please refer to the password standard for details.
